Who can join Alpha Phi Omega?
We accept people from all majors, genders, interests, ages, ethnicities, etc. A person however, has to be enrolled as a UCSB undergraduate in good standing with a 2.0 GPA or higher to join.
How do I join?
Come to our rush events to meet our brothers and learn more about the organization! You must attend two events and one info night in order to receive a bid in which you can accept and begin the pledging process.
What does it mean to "pledge"?
The pledging process is a six week program to learn more about the history of our chapter and the values of being a brother. As a pledge, you will be involved in various service and leadership projects and activities in order to fulfill requirements to become installed as an Active member.
Psi chapter is a dry chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. We prohibit the presence of alcohol and drugs at any chapter or fraternity affiliated event. Hazing is strictly against the University and Alpha Phi Omega policy.
What is the time commitment to pledge?
The time commitment will vary however, our chapter prioritizes academics and personal health before pledging. We will make reasonable accommodations to ensure that you have the opportunity to becoming a member of our chapter.
Am I allowed to be in both Alpha Phi Omega and a social fraternity or sorority?
Involvement in another Greek fraternity or sorority does not conflict with potential membership in Alpha Phi Omega. Members of social fraternities and sororities are welcome as well as anyone else to seek membership into our organization. However, it is not recommended to pledge for two organizations at once due to the time commitments.
Does Alpha Phi Omega have a house?
No, we do not have a house. Our meetings are held on campus.
Is Alpha Phi Omega Greek?
Although we use many of the same terms like rush and pledging, we are not a greek-based fraternity. We are a professional fraternity under the Professional Fraternity Council at UCSB. We are not associated with IFC or Panhellenic.
